Software Park Phuket is the first private park in Thailand. It was founded in late 2008 with support from Software Park Thailand, the Sourthern Science Park and Blue Lagoon Phuket Co., Ltd. It was created for 3 main purposes:
- To provide a service area for ICT entrepreneurs with support from CAT Telecom in providing a fiber optic based high speed internet connection. Software Park Phuket currently has 15 local and international companies.
- To facilitate young and upcoming software developers through our Phuket Innovation Incubation Center (PIIC). New companies will receive guidance and support as well as various business opportunities from our partner network. We currently have 20 incubates participating in the program.
- To conduct studies and research in the field of ICT and software development through our Research and Development Lab. Potential innovations and selected technologies are preparing to be applied to business structures in the future. With support from leading ICT researchers and organizations, this lab will be a strong force in the upcoming years.
During October 8-10, 2009, the Software Park Phuket will team up with Software Park Thailand in hosting The Asia Oceania Regional Software Park Alliance. Organizing this event will strengthen Phuket’s image and prove the island’s capabilities in being a true ICT city.
By 2010, the Software Park Phuket will extend to its full capacity of 51 Rai, providing an area of over 10,000 sq.m. for occupants. Designed with environmental concern, every effort is made to ensure that our facilities meet green standards and are environmentally friendly. Wind and Solar power will be used as alternative sources of energy. More than 50% of land will be preserved as green zones together with gardens and recreational areas. Convenience stores, medical service and restaurants will be ready to serve within just few steps from your office.
The Software Park Phuket aims to promote and strengthen software-related businesses in the Phuket area. The Software Park Phuket seeks to attract businesses, start-up companies, and entrepreneurs as well as to gather Information and Communication Technology or ICT knowledge workers from various companies around the world into the Phuket area. People from Nordic and Scandinavian regions represent one of the Software Park Phuket’s targeted groups. In general, Phuket is known as the world-class tourist destinations and has sufficient infrastructure necessities such as international schools (nowadays using International Baccalaureate or IB curriculum), Prince of Songkla University (with well-known computer engineering programs), high-speed internet, and outstanding an international airport and seaports.
